Oakland has supported the A's for 38 years, and this rich history cannot be compromised. A's fans have celebrated and suffered with this team, and almost two generations of A's fans have lived with their team playing Oakland. Help Keep the A's in Oakland and fight the move. Fremont has budget problems? You mean like Oakland and SJ?

Yes, it's true. Like most major California cities, Fremont, for the first time will have to dip into its reserve. Chris De Benedetti writes about how funding a larger police force, fire department, and infrastucture in anticipation of a new stadium will not be possible with Fremont's current budget. Just like Oakland and San Jose, both cites looking to lure a new ballpark, Fremont is showing its weakness's. "The city of Fremont cannot pay out of pocket for those services(Police, fire, repavement of roads), therefore we would have to be financially compensated in the negotiations," says City Manager Fred Diaz . "And Mr. (Lewis) Wolff is sensitive to that." So Wolff, would have to pay for security and infrastructure around his ballpark, if planning to go with Fremont. How much will he be willing to throw down? Will his ballpark village be able to fully pay for these additional costs? Maybe Wolff should just buy Pacific Commons and make it his own town. The Wolffland A's, that has a ring...

REMEMBER TO VOTE TODAY Wherever you may live.

You know, I'm tired of the pro-Oakland crowd incessantly bashing Fremont. Do you know how many snide comments I hear when I am at the game? I want the A's to stay in Oakland too, but I am starting to tire of this constant bashing of Fremont. If you want the A's to stay in Oakland do somethin

I am not bashing Fremont. I am pointing out that Fremont has similar budget problems to Oakland and SJ. This a very important piece of news, and I felt people needed to know the simple fact that if Wolff builds in Fremont, he will probably have to pay for sercurity and fire services around his ballpark.

I post these articles and viewpoints to keep pro-oakland fans updated and informed with the A's current stadium situation. Marine Layer does the same thing on his blog. That is why you will see many of the same articles posted on our blogs. It is just that this is a pro-oakland blog.

I am not bashing Fremont. I think Fremont is a fine city, which unfortunately is struggling with some growing pains. Let me restate; I AM NOT BASHING FREMONT. I am bashing the current ballpark plan in Fremont, and will continue to point out all the negatives in addition to ways pro-oakland fans can get involved. I want pro-oakland fans to have as much information as possible about why Fremont may not be the best choice for the A's. So when they get into a debate with some person over whether the A's should move, they'll be able to voice their opinion and back it up with facts.

As for the "Chose or Lose" tailgaste rally later this month, I encourage people attend. That band Bong looks ridiculous, it should be tight.

Speaking of voting, De La Fuente sent me a letter that said...

"The A's are an asset to the city and, with the lease extension, there should be time to work out a plan for a new stadium".

Support the guy who supports the A's, vote De La Fuente for Oakland Mayor!

I don't think anyone is bashing Fremont as a city. It's just a bad location for a ballpark five miles from the nearest BART station.

On the other hand, the president of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Cindy B., made some disparaging remarks about Oakland residents.

I rather the team plays in Fremont than move to Las Vegas or beyond. Oakland cant even keep local control of its school district, the team will move no matter what. And the estuary site is off the board, the uptown site is off the board, the north of coliseum site is off the board, there is nowhere left in Oakland to build a good park for the A's unless you want to fill in Lake Merrit---yeah thats an idea! And yah know,,Fremont is what 15-20 minutes away,,,it wouldnt be that big of a move and the team would stay in the East Bay.
BTW,,its the East Bay that has supported the team not just the few fans that live/lived in Oakland(myself included)--so stop raggin on your neighbors and lets unite to keep the team in the East Bay,,be it Fremont, Albany, Dublin, Canyon or Sunol!
